| Q: Why is my Talent Management Team not supporting my business needs? |
| |
A: Talent Management used to be a paper-pushing exercise in most organisations, and for some people, it still is! After the radical discovery that people are the key to building and sustaining a great business, this procedural thinking towards Talent Management needed to change to a dynamic, strategic and proactive approach.
In many businesses, this change in thinking has not been operationalised. The way the Talent Management system is designed often doesn’t allow the Talent Management Team to be the strategic business function it should be.
If Talent Management is to be a strategic partner to the business, the first step is for the business to recognize that that is what they are meant to be. The second step, as a leader, is to know, in your gut, that your people are the vehicle for bringing your business strategy to life.
The clincher in the story is that your Talent Management system needs to be integrated. All the sub-systems that make up a Talent Management platform cannot work efficiently if they don’t "speak to each other". |
