| Q: Why is it hard for teams of people to quickly come up with a clear and clever action plan to move forward? |

A: The starting point for developing a clear and clever action plan is to get people thinking in a focused way, about the same thing, at the same time. Unfortunately, unless a group’s thinking is focused through a shared process, it is the nature of being human, and therefore different, that will result in divergent thinking! Divergent thinking means that people are thinking differently about what to do next, and sometimes not even focusing on the same thing at the same time. Divergent thinking often results in conflict in teams and makes it very hard to define a team action plan.
Finding a way to create what we call “Parallel Thinking”, is the most powerful way to make sure that teams move forward from an idea, concept or strategy to defining an action plan for bringing concepts to life. Remember, as Gordon Eubanks said, "Strategy gets you on the playing field, but execution pays the bills".
Divergent thinking, the result of being human and different, makes it difficult for teams to come up with clear and clever action plans quickly.
We love introducing people to our Thinking Processes, which help create Parallel Thinking in teams, so get in touch! |
